A large number of students studying in our school come from rural areas (85%), with socialand financial needs, with one or both parents left to work abroad. 5% students have special educational needs. The Total number of students is 826 and 145 staff. The social challenges this generations are called to face ,include the relevant aspect of the increasing number of migrants and refugees arriving on Sardinian shores and the attitude they might have towards this “social alarm”: it is very important that they do not develop a racist attitude towards the refugees, but that they know the reasons of this huge and dramatic crisis. This is why our school decided to host some young refugees with the aim of acceptingnew cultures from a far-away world, which has become more and more close to our remote island.
